Spiritual Warfare...

As we traveled to church this morning we had a wonderful time of worship as a family and were so excited about what God was going to do at Kaliuta Baptist Church. Upon our arrival we joined with our brothers and sisters in singing. Then all of the sudden it was like a breeze blew and fear of the uncertain filled my heart. A minute later a drunk man entered the church screaming "America! America! Mzungu (white man)! Greet me!" My heart began to race and I immediately pulled Lily and Lauren closer to my side. The deacons of the church gently removed the man, but he returned 4 more times during the service. I began to feel my stomach turn and my heart pounded within my chest and I knew exactly what was going on. Satan did not want anyone in that church to hear what God wanted to say to them this morning. As I sat still, I began to pray and ask God to bind satan from Kaliuta. As I was praying, the drunk man got louder, 4 children began screaming uncontrollably, and 3 dogs began fighting outside of the church. Kendall stopped preaching at that moment and told the people that satan did not want them to hear what God wanted them to hear and that they needed to listen to God and ignore all that was going on around them. I kept praying and immediately, a cool breeze blew and quiet peace fell over that church. For the first time in our ministry here in Zambia that I can remember spiritual warfare was very heavy. The drunk man calmed down and stayed for the entire service and listened and answered questions correctly and left a peaceful man. Praise the Lord that God moved in that church today because many people gave their lives to Jesus today despite the distractions that were present at the beginning of our time of worship. After the service the pastor asked us to walk to his home and pray for his father, Willis, who is very sick. As we walked to his home, the whole church joined us, we came upon Willis he was lying on a mat outside of his home, he was so frail and all of his bones were visible and he was gasping for breath. My heart labored for him and my spirit ached for him. Kendall was only asked to pray for him, but Kendall looked at me and I looked at him and I knew that this man needed to hear how to know Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. There were about 10 people Willis' side and Kendall prayed for him, shared how to know Jesus as Savior and Lord, read Scripture, and prayed again for Willis. We got up to leave and I wanted to just sit with this man and ask him over and over if he really did know Jesus. This was the first time that I had really seen someone so frail and close to death in my life. Pray that if Willis has not turned to Christ that he will do so in his heart and will know the awesome hope that we should ALL have after coming to Christ. My heart is full, aching, excited, and on guard against the evil one today. Today Kendall and I are very very aware of the spiritual battles between angels and demons that are taking place around us all of the time. Pray for our family's protection against the evil one. Pray that God would put a hedge of protection around these new believers at Kaliuta. Praise the Lord for the joy we find in Him alone and the HOPE of our salvation and HIS return! Be ready...it is coming when we least expect it! As we drove home with 3 sleeping children, Kendall and I looked at each other with excitement and anticipation at what God has started to do in Kacholola. God is at work and we praise Him for allowing us to join Him in the work that He has begun! Pray for Kacholola, God wants to do something BIG there! People are hungry and the harvest is white. Kendall will begin teaching there 2 times a month beginning April 13th.

A new sister in Christ
This is one of our new sisters in Christ. She was clinging to every word that was spoken today. She is full of joy and happiness. Pray that her joy is complete and full for her Savior and Lord.

Another sister in Christ! One day we will ALL worship and celebrate King Jesus TOGETHER!
