Chamilala Baptist

Sunday morning was wet and cool. As we began to prepare for worship, my heart was filled with excitement and joy. Sometimes Sundays can be very difficult for a mother of 3 young children, but God has been answering Kendall and my prayers to allow our children to begin to understand why we go to church and how we are to act in order to worship God. Thankfully, God has really been molding me as a mother by giving me great patience and a gentle spirit with Lily, Easton, and Lauren. Needless to say, the Lord is the one who placed this peace, excitement, and joy in my heart as we set out for Chamilala Baptist in Kacholola. Chamilala is about 80 kilometers/50 miles from our home in Nyimba.

We arrived at the church and were greeted with worship choruses, many smiles, and handshakes. The service was a great time of worship and praise. At the conclusion of the service, 30 people came to receive Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior! My heart was glad because as I looked into their eyes, you could see the joy of the Lord within them. To hear them pray was unforgettable.

After the service concluded, they prepared lunch for us and we shared a meal of nshima, rape (very similar to collard greens or mustard greens), and chicken. Our children were so well behaved and ate their lunch with a hearty appetite! During our meal, the choir sang choruses outside the church.

As we left the church, the choir and the entire church body escorted us to our truck and left us with many smiles, gifts of pumpkins, baskets, and corn, and well wishes as we began to travel back to Nyimba.

Praise the Lord for days like Sunday! He is so good!

Praise the Lord with us that the Kacholola churches are truly coming to Christ and hungry to know more about the Word of God and how to live the Christian life.

Pray for Kendall as we are so blessed to have these open doors of opportunity, pray with us that Kendall would be truly obedient to what God would have him to teach and how to guide these churches.

Praise the Lord for the 80 people who have come to Christ in Kacholola in the past three weeks! Each of the churches we have attended are new church plants, 3-5 years old. Pray that they would grow in Christ and stay true to Christ.

As guests, we are offered seats in the front of the church.

Lauren fell asleep at the end of the service.

The faces of Chamilala...many of these faces are new creatures in Christ!
Pray that this little one grows to know Christ at an early age and is spared from African Traditional Religion.

This precious lady came to Christ today and was full of joy.

Pray that this little girl will be freed from the charm that is around her neck. Pray God's protection on her life and pray for her mother to truly surrender to Christ not witchcraft.

This is the little girl's mama. Pray that as she made a decision to follow Christ that she would get rid of the charms and truly repent and turn from evil.

The women of Chamilala

Amai Daka was just a gentle woman who had the joy of the Lord in her life. What a blessing to see her so happy and content in the Lord.

These are 3 of the leaders of Chamilala.
The man on the left is the pastor, his name is Rafael. He has 9 children and pray for God's protection on his life and for him to remain faithful to God's calling on his life to lead Chamilala.
The other 2 men are deacons of the church. They are both married to one woman and are believers. Pray that they remain faithful husbands and that they will continue to grow to be godly men.
These are 3 more leaders in the church.
The one on the left is the treasurer, in the middle is the choir leader, and the one on the right is the secretary.
Pray that these men would be full of integrity and be honest in their positions in handling money and information regarding the church.

This is our exit from the church. They all followed us and greeted us as we left.

And I thought it was hard to deal with one three year old and two teens in the church environment! I don't know how you were able to get them to sit at all after riding for 50 miles! But what a blessing that your kids are learning what a blessing worship is and that being able to share fellowship with other Christians is worth sacrifice. May you reap the blessings being sown in your children now many times over as they grow to maturity in age and in Christ. Love to you, the kids and Kendall!
