Lungu and Tembo

As Kendall and I sat together last night reflecting upon our ministry so far and where we feel God is leading us, God reminded us of these 2 names. These names are not common to our family, they are precious, they are valuable, and they are the names of a few of the men in Nyimba that have stepped out from the crowd and said, "YES" to God's call on their lives as Christian leaders.

In our training as church planters we are challenged to use the "222 method". This method is completely Biblical and comes from 2 Timothy 2:2 which says, "And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also." As you pray for us, make this passage of Scripture a part of your prayers for us. Pray that we would be discerning in finding faithful men and that we would be found faithful in our teachings.

Yesterday, Deacon Lungu from Madalitso Baptist came to our home to visit with Kendall. In their conversation, he shared with Kendall that he felt like God was calling him to move from his village, across the Luangwa River to live and plant a church there. He began to ask Kendall if he could learn how to start a church and evangelize in that village. Kendall was shocked, excited, and overwhelmed. This year, Kendall will begin meeting with Deacon Lungu to reach this new village for Christ. Pray for Deacon Lungu as he seeks medical help for his ailing leg that has bothered him since 2007. Pray that he would continually seek the Lord day after day in his personal Bible Study. Pray that his family would support and encourage him as he is obedient to God's call.

Today, Gideon Tembo came to our gate to purchase Bibles for the 2 churches near him, Madalitso and Golgotha Baptist Churches. During his visit, Kendall asked Gideon if he desired to travel to Mozambique again this year to continue to evangelize and disciple the new believers there. His reply was, "we are free to go", meaning "YES!". He also shared with Kendall that there is a village nearby his home that is without a church and he feels that God is calling him to start a church there. Praise the Lord!!!! Gideon is the man that God called to plant Golgotha Baptist...amazing! Praise the Lord for both of these men, that they desire to obey Christ and share His love with those around them! Pray that Gideon would continue to grow in his knowledge of the Bible and of Jesus. Pray that God would protect he and his family and that he would be blessed beyond measure.

(There are several other men just like this...but God brought these men one day after another).

Pray for Kendall as he begins to train these men to evangelize and plant churches.

Pray that God will raise up several other men to desire to be discipled in order that they may evangelize and plant churches in the Nyimba district. Basically, home missionaries.

Pray that the men, Pastor Monday, Benjamin Phiri, Gideon Tembo, and Samson Lungu (pictured above) would desire to go to Mozambique this year with Kendall.Praise the Lord for a new disciple that has come to Nyimba, Lupheyu Ntaka, and he desires to grow in Christ and travel to Mozambique to share Christ there. Pray for Kendall as he plans to travel to Mozambique two times a week this dry season.

Pray for Leonard Banda in Mozambique. We have seen him and he is well, but anxious for Kendall to teach him more about being a follower of Christ.

Thank you for your prayers as we follow God's leading. Thank you for your love for the Nsenga people. Thank you for your patience as we try to figure out how to do things and learn from our successes and mistakes.
