We have been discussing the fact that buying eggs are quite expensive here, almost $0.25 per egg. Our family loves to eat eggs for breakfast and we use many of them! Well, after much thought and discussion with friends who have chickens, we decided to make the chicken plunge! We are now the proud owners of 10 laying hens, one rooster (Lucy), and 2 broiler hen chicks. Our laying hens, once they get settled in their new home will each lay one egg per day! The chickens now out number the humans and dogs at our house. The kids are really enjoying the hens and chicks and they are learning the responsibility of feeding them, giving them water, collecting eggs, and soon cleaning out the chicken coop!
