Ministry Update

While we have "been away" the past month many things have been happening with our family and ministry in Nyimba and Mozambique! We hope you enjoy catching up with what we have been up to!

Mozambique- Kendall went to Mozambique with the associational chairman, Samson Lungu. Kendall had heard that there was not a church in the village closest to the Zambian border so he wanted to research the area himself. Samson and Kendall went into the village and met with the chief. The chief was so happy that Kendall came to meet with him. During their meeting the chief excitedly granted him permission to plant a church in the village. We are so excited that God has opened the door for a church to be planted there. Please pray that God's will would be done and that Kendall would have wisdom as he begins this journey.

Nyimba Associational Meeting- On August 21, the association had a meeting with all of the churches of Nyimba. There were approximately 80-100 people in attendance, men and women. Kendall was invited to teach and he was looking forward to using this opportunity to teach the people how to begin to study the Bible on their own. The first day he taught them how to read a passage and really understand all that it says. The second day he taught them how to do a topic study using the index and chain reference in their Bibles. After the 2 days of teaching, the people were so happy that he had taught them such practical tips on reading and studying the Word of God so that they can grow in their personal walk with Him. What a blessing!

Literacy- I have been teaching women to read and write Chichewa for a month. This has been a great way for me to learn more Chichewa and to build relationships with the women. I have had up to 8 women, but 4 consistently. Pray that they will stick with the learning even if it gets tough. God has blessed us in this ministry opportunity and it has been great!

Bible Study- I continue to teach at Nyimba Central every Thursday afternoon. 2 weeks ago I had a wonderful study with the women and God opened the door for me to ask each of them to share their personal testimony and how they came to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord. All 4 of the women that were in attendance have accepted Jesus and these women are 4 that I can see a difference in their lives, even before I knew their salvation testimony. All of them had been in bondage of alcohol, smoking, and one by telling lies in the village. God has set them free and one day we will share eternity with them in Paradise...HEAVEN!!!

Praise the Lord for a wonderful month of growth in our lives here in Africa and our ministry in Nyimba and Mozambique!
