In August, the church planting process began in a village 20 kilometers from our house, called Biyulu. A young man named Misheck had moved to Biyulu and began a Bible Study there. Kendall went there to meet him and the headman and a Bible Study began at Biyulu. God has been working in this little village ever since. Our guard, Paul, went with Kendall to Biyulu one day and thought it would be a great idea if Nyimba Central Baptist Church and Njalazi Baptist came together at Biyulu to have a weekend meeting. Kendall was excited to see the leaders of Nyimba stepping up to encourage and teach this new preaching point. On November 4, 2011, 53 people gathered at Biyulu Baptist for a weekend meeting. Members from Nyimba Central and Njalazi came. Jumbe, Paul, and Samson all taught the meeting and the people were so excited! This whole process was exciting for Kendall and me because we had NOTHING to do with this meeting, it was all Zambian planned and led! The people of Biyulu Village saw that the Baptist Church was a real church. Meetings like this are so important because it allows others to see that there are other churches of like faith and that the Baptists are not Satanists. Very soon, Biyulu will have a baptism service, we are looking forward to that day!
Praise the Lord for this new church in Nyimba and for the other believers that took the time to go there to encourage them in song and teaching!
Pray for Misheck as he continues to lead Biyulu Baptist. We are so thankful that God put him there and that he is leading them so well!
