We Saw The Spiritual World Vividly Today

As we began our journey to the Easter Weekend Meeting, Kendall and I both had prepared our hearts in prayer. This day was going to be a day in which we could not fail to remain in prayer against the evil one. Today was the day that those who had come to Christ would be baptized. During the teaching time prior to the baptism, babies cried, people talked, and it was evident that satan wanted dominion in that church. I prayed for Kendall as he taught and God's Word was proclaimed and once again I was reminded of Christ's power over the demons and death. Praise the Lord! After lunch, Kendall met with the baptism candidates and taught them from Colossians 3 about the things that should be put to death (Colossians 3:5-8) and how we should walk as Christians (Colossians 3:12-16). There were 17 that had come to receive Christ, 10 from the day prior and 7 from past services at their individual churches.
We then packed up our things and were led by the choirs in song as we walked about 1/2 mile to the river where the baptism would take place. Kendall and I were so excited because of our new family members in Christ and about Kendall's first time to baptize. When we arrived at the water, Kendall led the congregation in another brief devotion from Romans 6:1-7.
As he baptized, the people were so excited as they entered the water and as they arose from the water and stepped foot on shore. It was a time of great joy! As Kendall continued, I kept praying, then a young woman stepped into the water and had a look of fear on her face and she gripped Kendall's arm tightly. He proceeded with her baptism he said, "Have you recieved Jesus?""Yes"..."Who is Lord?" (she paused for several seconds) "Yesu Kristu" Just then Kendall prepared to baptize her and her eyes shut and she went limp. By the time she reached the shore the people near her had to drag her from the river onto dry land. I looked at Zeria and said "does she have a demon?" Zeria replied, "yes". It really hit me then how powerful baptism truly is and how satan does not want people to follow Christ and His example of baptism. The spiritual world is vivid and very real. After the baptism we reached the church and Kendall felt impressed to meet with the young lady and pray with her and share the Gospel with her. During this time she shared that she had been having dreams of swimming in the water that frightened her so she visited the witch doctor. The witch doctor instucted her to dance and he would inject the medicine in her with a needle as she danced. She had invited the demons and trusted in the most dangerous and evil thing that I have encountered in my life....witchcraft. Pray for this young lady, she is in great bondage and has not been set free. This experience opened our eyes and exposed the depths of our concern and compassion for the Nsenga people to come to Christ. Praise the Lord for the other 16 that were baptized, pray that they will grow in their walk with Christ and not turn back to the evils of the world.

The first lady baptized! Praise the Lord!

This is the young lady who has a demon. Please pray for her salvation from the darkness of witchcraft and for her mother who took her to this doctor.
After all was said and done, look at Kendall's face, he was just being gracious to her because he thought she was just afraid. As we looked at this picture again, we see how satan wants to deceive us.

This young man was so happy after his baptism.

"Mama, why are those people in the water with Daddy?"
"Baby, because they are telling the world that they have given their hearts to Jesus!"
"REALLY?! WOW!!"

Easton with our guard, Rabson, on the walk home. Look at how tall the grasses are! We praise the Lord for workers who have trusted and follow Christ! They truly are lights in the midst of a dark and evil place. Pray that they would be encouraged and strengthened in their walks with Christ.
