An Illustration of Faithfulness and Devotion

What would you do if you were a pastor and your congregation disappeared without notice?

What would you do if the church you had labored hours to build was destroyed by heavy rains and wind?

Honestly consider how you would respond to these questions. What would your heart condition be? Where would your focus be? Would you be angry at the people for leaving? Would you be frustrated that you didn't have enough money to construct a building out of concrete? Would you throw your hands up and say "forget it, maybe I didn't understand what God was saying when he called me to preach the Gospel..I quit!"

" O love the Lord, all you His godly ones! The Lord preserves the faithful and fully recompenses the proud doer. Be strong and let your heart take courage, all you who hope in the Lord." Psalm 31:23-24

The pastor of Pwe Pwe Baptist church has suffered all of the things mentioned above. Last year the entire congregation left the church. Months later the church fell apart after the rainy season. Still during all of these trials, he and his wife walk to the location where the church was located and they have a worship service every Sunday. They sing, pray, and read Scripture together. They are praying that God would restore their church so that they can have fellowship and walk with Christ together.

Since all of this occurred, the pastor and his wife, have rebuilt the church, just the two of them. They know that God has called them to minister in Pwe Pwe and they are praying for God's spirit to move in that church.

In 2 weeks all of the women from Nyimba are traveling to Pwe Pwe for a women's meeting. The pastor and his wife are so excited that people are coming to see them and encourage them. They have made preparations for the women for months and are preparing all of the food for them, this is a huge sacrifice of money and time. Praise the Lord for the faithfulness of this brother and sister in Christ! Kendall and I are going to make a trip to Pwe Pwe very soon to pray with this precious couple and share God's Word together.

What an awesome and humbling picture of belief in God's calling, faithfulness in God's ability to act and what an exhibition of how to grow in Christ together in a dry time! And how encouraging that the women of Nyimba would feel so called to lift up this faithful couple. Blessing upon blessing....
