A Maturing 1-Year Old

Sometimes an unannounced visit to a church is a good thing because we can really see what is going on. We usually never tell churches when we are coming, surprise can be discouraging or encouraging to us. This Sunday, it was the latter of the two. We decided that we would visit Mayaba to see how they were doing and to encourage them. Mayaba became a preaching point a little over a year ago and is now an official church! We have been praying and asking our prayer partners to pray for a leader to step up to lead Mayaba. God may be beginning to answer our prayers!
We drove the 20km to Mayaba and arrived at 10:30a.m. To our utter surprise, the church was gathered under the mango tree and they had their hymnals and Bibles out and were beginning to sing! We were SO excited to see them gathered and starting! When we sat down, there was a young man leading the service (he has been attending the church since its beginning). They were just so excited and the service was organized and God-glorifying! There were 43 people in attendance and 5 visitors! The 5 visitors were all young men from the neighboring village. We left Mayaba so happy that they are growing in the Lord and together as a church!
Continue to pray for this young church that they would remain pure in doctrine and the Word. Pray for Kendall as he begins teaching doctrine there in September. Continue to pray that the young man leading would be faithful and desire to lead according to God's Word! PRAISE the Lord for His awesome work in this village!
