Today, Martin and I went to the village of Mayaba and began the first round of evanglism. There is nothing like the simplicity of going and telling people about Christ in a Zambian village. I love it!! Before we went, we prayed for favor in the eyes of the headwoman of the village and also for a man of peace. We soon found out this prayer was very necessary. The headwoman was giving us the run around and it seemed she was going to try to make it hard for us to share God's word with her village. However, her husband wants our church to come to the village and encouraged her to let us in. She thought about it and said ok, then she said, but why don't you preach right now so we can hear the word of God. So we preached and two elderly women came and recieved Christ as their Savior. What a wonderful day opposition was turned into an opportunity to preach the gospel. We spent the rest of the day going from hut to hut and intend to go back Wednesday and complete our time in this village.
I would like to share a couple of prayer requests:
Pray that barriers would be broken down because many in the village were too afraid to remove their charms and trust in Christ.
Pray for genuine conversions. Mayaba is a hard place to sow the seeds of the gospel pray that hearts will be softened and the seeds will take root in the lives of the people there.
Pray for Ben Phiri he was the man who led us around the village and heard every word of testimony we gave.
Pray for Edith an elderly woman who wants to gather people on Wednesday to hear the word of God preached.
