Friends and Fellowship

On Saturday, Kendall was invited to preach at a Bible School graduation in a nearby town, Petauke. Earlier in the week we had decided that while he was preaching, I would go and visit friends in a nearby village, Kawere. Lily and Easton were so excited to visit Bertha, Melvin, and Cynthia. Bertha is Zeria's sister and we always love to go and see her, she is a precious friend. When we arrived in Petauke where Kendall was to preach, I got out of the truck and greeted everyone and congratulated those men who were graduating from Bible School. Each of them asked me if we were staying for the program. I told them that I was going to go to the village and encourage some friends there. They were happy to know that while we were there both Kendall and I were doing ministry. That is when it hit me. Being a missionary is about preaching the Gospel, but it is also just as important to spend time with Zambian friends to encourage them and show them that we love them like family. Bertha's husband, Gershom, is learning to be a truck driver to make extra money for their kids to go to school and Bertha is very lonely lately. I was so encouraged by her sweet spirit and I always enjoy her company! We laughed for a long time about many things and today I realized that as a mommy and a woman, being with friends is just as important here in Zambia as it is in America. What an AWESOME day we had!

Melvin and Lily played a lot!
Lauren just took it all in...

On the ride home... a storm was brewing. These pictures are just so pretty to me.This field has just been planted.
Sorry this is blurry, but this is what we face every time we drive somewhere. Cows, goats, pigs, and chickens in the road. They can be VERY dangerous!
