2008, A Year of Living and Learning

The year 2008 was the first full year in which we lived in a foreign country. Throughout this past year we have grown to love the Zambian people like our brothers and sisters. The year was not always full of happy times but of times learning to love through hard times and learning to appreciate the culture in which we live and call home. Here are some things we have learned and experienced in 2008...
Kendall learned how to encourage the leaders of Chipata to start a Bible School.

Joy learned the beauty of a person by the trials they face and how they continually depend on God.

Joy learned all to well that the days are few and without warning we can lose dear friends to sudden death.
We saw rebirth!

Joy learned to run a kitchen without electricity!
Kendall prayed for men to accompany him to Mozambique to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and He was faithful to answer and bless Kendall with these godly men.
Kendall and Joy learned to speak Chichewa. Not perfect and not fluent but still learning!
Joy had the honored privilege of naming Jenny Nzunda's precious baby boy, Noah.
Kendall received a chicken for visiting his friend, Patrick Lungu.
Kendall also received a giraffe as a gift from...just kidding! We had fun with animals in South Africa!
The whole family saw one of the 7 wonders of the world, Victoria Falls.

Kendall learned where all 25 churches are located in Nyimba.

Kendall made some good friends that desire to see the Nsenga know Christ.

Kendall met the chief and learned more about the deep need for Jesus in this culture.

Joy enjoyed visiting friends in the village.
For the first time, Kendall was able to see the unreached people group, the Nsenga of Mozambique. Putting faces with a need makes all the difference in the world!
Kendall and Joy taught the Bible in Chichewa in Nyimba and Petauke.

We learned to be cautious of animals on the road.

Enjoyed friends coming to spend time with us!

We learned to check the road before going any further!
Kendall prayed for a man of peace in Mozambique. This man (on the left) is Leonard Banda. He is a new Christian and has started a church on his own! Praise the Lord!
We learned to stop and enjoy the masterpiece in the sky each night. And more importantly, we learned how to fully depend on Jesus Christ for every need.
Our family is excited to see what God is going to do in 2009!
Thank you all for praying us through 2008, keep us on your prayer list for 2009!
