His Never Failing Presence

"If I should say, “My foot has slipped,” Your lovingkindness, O LORD, will hold me up. When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul.” Psalm 94:18-19
Everyday when I finish running, Lily delivers my water bottle to me and Lauren quickly figures out that I am finished running and she says, "Mama, are you done runnin'?" I say, "Yes, baby what do you need?" She says in a gentle voice, "Can I wide on yuh showduhs?" I can't resist. No matter how tired I am, how sweaty, or if I need to do something else, I always carry her. Today, was like every other day. I ran finished and she met me by the frangipani trees in the driveway. I picked her up and put her on my shoulders. I was tired, but as we walked she said,"Mama I will hold on tight tight!"

Then I began to think about the times that we are weary, tired, or just in need of a gentle touch and how the Lord always hikes us up on His shoulders and takes us for a walk with Him. In our walks with Him, do we just ride, fall asleep, listen, ask questions, or simply praise Him for the fact that He will never fail us?  Each day when we wake up, do we ask Him to hold us and then tell Him that we are clinging to Him for everything that faces us, good or bad, during the day? (Psalm 91:1-2) Today, the Lord reminded me in my precious time with Lauren to enjoy His presence throughout the day and no matter where my feet were going to take me, Jesus was always with me.
