Through Kelli's Eyes- Part II

Here is Kelli's update to her friends and family about Wednesday and Thursday...
Hi All,

I wanted to try to provide a quick update on events from the last couple of days! Yesterday we went to a Women's Meeting at the Nyimba Central Baptist church. I can't wait to show you pictures. The building is all brick and mud and the pews are made from the same materials that the bricks are made of only much larger, wider and longer! Joy delivered a message with the hope to address several key sins that the women fall prey to especially adultery which apparently is VERY rampant here.

It was neat to meet the ladies and they welcomed me to their meeting and I was able to take a few pictures. Some even asked to have their picture taken and I happily obliged them as I was afraid to take my customary 1000 pictures as I don't want to offend anyone! In US terms, the meeting was really disorganized in that communication was not good and as we were walking to the church we passed ladies who were instructed to go to a different plot and start cleaning.
Then when we got to the church, no one had shopped or made provision for lunch so Zeria and several other ladies had to go back into town and purchase supplies from the market. The meeting was supposed to start around 9 but it really didn't get underway until at least 11:15 or so! Joy said we were on Zambia time and this is very typical. Attending the ladies meeting was quite interesting and I couldn't understand much but I loved the singing and dancing. It's amazing how in America, we have trouble singing unless we are led by a choir. Here, one person breaks out in song and everyone just naturally joins in and harmonizes perfectly! I will be taking my ipod tomorrow to our next outing so hopefully I can capture some of the sounds! Ok -enough about the women's meeting.
Kendall picked us up at 1:45 and we went out to a village where he delivered the message of Christ to the villagers. 3 individuals prayed to accept Christ as Savior! One of the men who prayed professed that he was a witch doctor and he needed Jesus so he could stop witching people. He also seemed a bit drunk so it was questionable about whether he was sincere in his prayer but today we learned that he told Joy & Kendall's good friend, Jumbe, that he had prayed to accept Christ and even loaned Jumbe his bike to come to town. It may be too soon to know for sure but if he truly repented and accepted Christ, this would be a huge deal as witch doctors are associated with Satanic practices. Spiritual warfare is very prevalent here and the stories that I'm hearing are quite disturbing. So that was yesterday!

Today, we went to market this morning to pick up scraps for the rug I'm making and also get "Zumba" for lunch. I've got pictures that show the work that goes into making Zumba!

Then after lunch, we went to the other half of the Boma (the area where Joy and Kendall live) to witness and evangelize to people there. It was a neat experience. The 2 families we met were proclaimed to be believers so we provided a short message of faith and encouragement and then came home. I gave my testimony 2 times in the native language. I had to read it of course but it was good and I feel more comfortable with each reading. I was also able to spend some time with Kendall and Joy this morning reviewing Acts 3 & 4 and also Daniel 2 & 8. It was a great day!

I also woke up at 2:45am this morning and after reading Acts 3 (How the crippled beggar was healed), I had a wonderful inspiration (which can only be contributed to the Lord) and hopefully what proves to be a life changing game plan but I want to discuss with John before revealing!!! :)
