Standing in the Gap

In Andrew Murray's book "Standing In The Gap" he says this about intercession:
"But the glory of intercession is so much greater- when a man is bold and asks from God what he desires for others. He seeks to bring to one soul, or maybe hundreds and thousands, the power of the eternal life with all its blessings. Intercession!
It is only when Christians stop looking for help in external union and bind together as one to the throne of God through an unceasing devotion to Jesus Christ and an unceasing continuance in supplication for the power of God's Spirit, that the church will put on her beautiful garments and her strength, too, and overcome the world."
Intercessory prayer is something that God commands us to do. " Pray for each other." James 5:16 As missionaries, we depend upon the prayers of family and friends to get us through times of difficulty and to rejoice with us in praises! A year ago, we met Jim at our annual mission meeting. Soon after his trip to Zambia, he began reading our blog and praying for the people on the blog and those mentioned in our newsletters. Now, a year later, in at Mwambo Basic School, Jim got to meet a man that he had been praying for, Lemeck Tembo from Njalazi. Jim was overjoyed that he had been blessed with the opportunity to come to Zambia again and on top of that blessing, to meet Lemeck face-to-face and see God’s answer to our prayers in person. The day that Jim met Lemeck was also the day that he had the honor of baptizing Lemeck as well! Isn’t God so good to know our hearts and to bless us by meeting those that we have been praying for?

 Our Gracious Father,
Hear our prayer and teach Your church, and each of us, what is the glory, what is the blessing, what is the all prevailing power of intercession.
We pray that You will give us the vision of what intercession means to You, so that we might carry out Your blessed purpose -  what it means to ourselves as the exercise of our royal priesthood, and what it will mean to Your church, and to perishing men, in the bringing down of the Spirit in power - for Jesus' sake.
Amen
-prayer by Andrew Murray, may this prayer be all of our prayers for America and the entire world
