I cannot believe that I am 31 years old. I still feel like I am a teenager some days! Although this is my third birthday in Africa, this was my first birthday at home in Zambia. It was a special day because we had lunch at our favorite restaurant in Petauke, Chimwemwe Lodge. Chimwemwe in chinyanja means Joy! My friends, Zeria, Bertha, and Daisy all came to my birthday party! We had a great time laughing and all they could say is that "everything is marvelous!"
All I wanted for my birthday was a good picture with my kids!
Lily wanted her pictures with the flowers in our garden.
Zeria made me a cake for my birthday!!
My cake!! Isn't it awesome!? I loved it because I knew the love that was put into it.
I only wanted one candle! 31 is too many!
This is hilarious. I wanted a picture with my friends, but they said that it was my birthday and I was on top! HA! So they wanted to hold me up for the picture! Needless to say, we laughed the entire time during this picture!
Bertha, me, Daisy, and Zeria at Chimwemwe Lodge after a wonderful lunch and party!

Joy,
That is such a sweet picture of you and the kids. I know you will cherish it always!
And I agree...how did we ever get to be 31??? Crazy!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOY! WOW! Your kids are just too cute!!!
Hi Joy,
You don't know me but I have read your blog since your family arrived in Zambia. My husband and I are friends of Mike and Lindy back here in Texas. I love reading about your work there and seeing your pictures. I know you had a wonderful birthday, it is so evident in the pictures and in your blog post. I just wanted you to know that people you don't know or have never even heard of are praying for you, Kendall and your beautiful children and the people you are reaching in Zambia. Thank you for all you are doing.
Debbie
