The day that I was so excited about had finally arrived! February 7, my cast was going to be removed! I waited for a very long time to see my doctor but when I finally did...it was nothing like I had anticipated. We proceeded to the room where it would be removed. When we arrived, the man in charge said that the cast cutter was not available because the man who had the key to the cabinet went home at 16 hours (4:00pm). Well, of course he did! My appointment was at 16 and it was now 18! So, my awesome doctor, who is a surgeon, said this, "well at UTH (the teaching hospital in Lusaka) we are trained and we teach to be a McGyver surgeon. Do you know McGyver?" I answered, "of course I do!" Then he said, "well we will remove the cast like McGyver!" HA!
He left the room and came back with a dull pair of scissors and a razor blade. He began to cut away the cast and then asked me to slide the scissors down into the cast as far as I could so that he could cut along the scissors and not cut me. (nice.) So after a great amount of laughter and joking, I was FREE!! Just glad that we have had another funny story to share from Zambia!

Our boys got McGyver for Christmas, so we have been on a huge kick lately. So funny that you write about it right now! I am so glad your cast is off and you have your hand again.
