God's Timing Is Always Perfect

Nachimbwe is a village just across the border from Zambia that has had a spiritual wall around it for many years. The name of the village means Hyena in Chinyanja. The hyena is an animal that is associated with witchcraft in the area in which we serve. Two years ago, Kendall tried to get a Bible study started there, but nothing ever worked. We continued to pray for this village because we knew that the witchcraft was abundant and drunkenness was rampant. When our family visited this village in August, I could feel the evil and darkness in this place. The people of the village approached Kendall and wanted him to come back to preach there again. He was hesitant but we prayed and God opened the door.
For the past six weeks he has been there preaching and teaching. Soon after he began teaching at Nachimbwe, Kendall found out that the Nyao dancers that really controlled the village and encouraged the witchcraft have all left! Since he has been teaching, 13 people have come to Christ in that time! This is no short of a miracle! Kendall is the third missionary that has tried to start a Bible Study in this village but the doors were not opened. It is amazing to hear the stories that Kendall has each week.
The most awesome things that have come of this amazing God story is that the headman and the secretary of the village have come to Christ. Leonard Banda, the first man to come to Christ in Mozambique, is preaching at Nachimbwe each Sunday. The youth choir from Nyimba Central Baptist has been traveling with Kendall in order to lead them in worship and these youth are missionaries now too! Nachimbwe has accepted the Gospel with open arms and their hearts are being transformed. The Holy Spirit is moving and changing lives, praise the Lord! Thank you for your prayers for Mozambique and the village of Nachimbwe. God is SO good and HIS timing is perfect, we must be persistent and obedient to His calling.
"These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him." 1 John 5:13-15

Joy, I just read this post to Larry with a lump in my throat, and he was marveling out loud at each sentence. This is what it's all about, as you know...It's so SUPER encouraging to hear such a raw, fresh work of the Spirit happening...this is what we talk about, pray for, and hope happens all around here in the Seminary training world, again--as you well know. LOVE it!
