For the past month, we have just really been dealing with the medical issues. It has been a peaceful time of waiting, but at the same time a bit frustrating because right when everything began, ministry was really picking up. Kendall and I both were teaching and since then things have slowed down. The first big event that we had planned for the year had to be led by the leaders of the association at the last minute. The event was a leadership conference, God was so good and the men that Kendall has been teaching for quite some time, stepped up to the plate and led the entire meeting! We were so happy that they felt confident in the Lord to lead this important meeting.
The Lord continued to encourage us when we received the reports from the weekend Easter meetings that took place all over Nyimba. In the zones that we have heard from, there were over 600 people! There were 16 baptisms that we know of and many amazing things happened at these meetings! The leaders that Kendall has been investing so much time and effort into are really putting into action what they are learning from God's Word. They are preaching with boldness and executing church discipline when needed.
Today, Kendall is at the Zone 1 youth meeting. The youth at Zone 1 made a committee and planned two meetings for this year. We have really felt the Lord impress upon our hearts to focus our attention on reaching the youth (ages 12-25) of Nyimba in 2010. God answered that prayer when the youth stepped up and asked to have a youth group in order that they may study, learn, and fellowship with one another! Praise the LORD! This had nothing to do with anything that Kendall and I had said, they came forth on their own!
It is hard to just sit sometimes and let the Lord work when you want to be doing things. This morning in my time with the Lord, my devotion really hit home with me. It is a devotional called "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young and here is what it said
"When I give you no special guidance, stay where you are. Concentrate on doing your everyday tasks in awareness of My Presence with you. The Joy of My Presence will shine on you, as you do everything for Me. Thus you invite Me into every aspect of your life. Through collaborating with Me in all things, you all My Life to merge with yours. This is the secret not only of joyful living but also of victorious living. I designed you to depend of Me moment by moment, recognizing that apart from Me you can do nothing.
Be thankful for quiet days, when nothing special seems to be happening. Instead of being bored by lack of action, use times of routine to seek My Face. Although this is an invisible transaction, it speaks volumes in spiritual realms. Moreover, you are richly blessed when you walk trustingly with Me through the routines of your day."
"Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve." Colossians 3:23-24
