Speechless...

Please forgive the length of this post, but there are some awesome things happening among the Nsenga and all of them were so exciting we had to share! Thank you for your prayers and praises to the Lord for His faithfulness and mighty works!

Chimbowe Village welcomed Kendall, Chipisani, and Derek Daka on Friday. Last week was the first time that Kendall taught at Chimbowe. While he was there he taught about creation and the fall of man in order to lay a foundation for God’s Word. Kendall taught the story of Cain and Abel. The goal of his teaching was to teach them how sin can be your master if you allow it to be.

"Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it." Genesis 4:6-7

In the story, Cain’s jealousy leads him to murder his brother Abel. Cain disobeyed the voice of the Lord and God’s warning.

This type of teaching has been so encouraging for Kendall because the people of this village have never heard God’s Word, which lays a huge responsibility upon Kendall to teach the Word of God with truth and clarity.

After the lesson, Kendall presented the Gospel and 12 people prayed to receive Christ. Among the 12, was the headman of the village. After they prayed to receive Christ a lady asked, “ what happens to our breath when we die?” Kendall told her that since she had prayed to receive Christ, her soul (breath) would go to Heaven. Kendall said that out of the group this lady and a few others were genuinely changed after they prayed.

Praise the Lord for the awesome work that He has begun in Chimbowe. Pray for God’s protection of this village and that His mighty hand would cover them and protect them from Satan’s evil attacks. Pray that those people who came to Christ would desire to grow in their walk with Him and ultimately that they would become a baptized body of Christ…a church.

The headman of Chimbowe is the man in the 33 shirt, he is a new believer. The lady that asked about her breath after she dies is the 4th lady from the left on the back row. Pray for these new believers, all of them are in this picture. You may not know their names but God does!

Meze Baptist Church
This is the first church plant that God has orchestrated in Mozambique. We are so excited about the leaders and the members of this church! They have officially been a church for 3 months now and we are so excited about growth in God's Word and fellowship with one another!

Children of Meze Village
Kasenga Village
The people of Kasenga Village are so excited about how God is moving in their village and about the new believers! When Kendall went to Kasenga last week, he discovered that they had already been given a plot for their church building and they had begun the construction on the church! Kendall was so excited because they had chosen this place for the church because the river is right next to it! They told Kendall, "we wanted this place so that we could be close to water to baptize people." It was awesome! The great thing about Kasenga and Meze is that they are neighbors and both are in the same stages as far as their Christianity and their church life. Pray that they would continue to meet together to encourage and fellowship with one another!
To the left of the tall tree, there is a slight drop in the land and at the bottom is the river where they will baptize! Kendall says that this picture does not do justice to the beauty of this location.

Nyimba Update

On Thursday, Kendall went to two villages approximately 5 kilometers from our home in Nyimba to follow-up on some of the evangelism that took place there with the Gila Valley team. When he arrived there at Ukhose and Nyosale, he found that the people there are without Jesus. There is a man in this village named David Daka who is the announcer for the village and his friend, Peter Mumba , these two men are the men of peace in these villages and are very interested in wanting to know more about Christ and having a church in their village. Kendall has set up a time with these men and a meeting with their villages to begin teaching God’s Word (Creation, the fall of man, sin, and salvation in Jesus Christ).

Pray for Kendall, Jumbe, and Paul as they travel there August 20th at 2:00 p.m. to have a meeting in the village and a time of singing and teaching. Pray that the Holy Spirit would protect and keep these villages. There are no churches near them and no one has ever come there to share Christ with them. The closest Baptist church is approximately 10 kilometers away. Praise the Lord for David and Peter as they desire to know and learn about Jesus Christ.

God is working in awesome ways in Nyimba and in Mozambique. Pray that we would be diligent, effective, and efficient with our study time and our time in the villages. Pray that Kendall would have wisdom as he follows the Holy Spirit’s leading and would not be attacked or deterred by Satan. Praise the Lord for our Zambian brothers and sisters who are our family in Christ that support, encourage, and teach alongside us as we strive to reach the Nsenga people for Christ!
