Jesus Film, Baptisms, and Rainbows

What an amazing weekend to share the love of Jesus Christ with Zambians as we prepare to celebrate His birth! Kendall had an incredible weekend of ministry here in Chipata. On Saturday night he showed the Jesus Film to approximately 200 people. Following the film he preached his first evangelical sermon in Chichewa. Several people came to know the Lord and many wanted to know more about salvation, thank you all for praying for this time! God truly blessed and Kendall did an awesome job speaking the language. On Sunday morning, he was invited to Emmus Baptist Church to assist the leaders in commissioning two of their leaders, Benson Tembo and Patrick Lungu, to baptize and administer the Lord's Supper. Benson and Patrick baptized 7 people and then the church shared in the Lord's Supper. At the end of a weekend like this we can look back and see how much we have learned as young missionaries and also see how much we have to learn! Sunday evening as we were outside our home we saw a full rainbow right next to our house and Kendall and I just smiled at each other because we know that God put that rainbow there for us to be reminded of His love and His eternal promises to us to those who believe in Him! Thank you all again for loving us and praying for us! There are many pictures below and a video of the Emmus congregation singing after the baptisms. Enjoy and Merry Christmas!

Kendall reading Romans 6:1-7 in Chichewa at the river.

He shared with the church what baptism was about and why we as Christians are baptized
...an outward symbol of our inward commitment.

Kendall prayed for the new believers,
those who would come to Christ in the future,
and for Patrick and Benson as they baptized.

This was an exciting time for us because Benson is our night guard. He and Kendall have become good friends and teach each other many things about the Zambian culture and most importantly Jesus Christ.

Since the rains have come, Zambia has turned green and it is gorgeous!

This is the rainbow that was arching over the mountain next to our home.
God is so great when He writes how much He loves us in the sky.

WOW Joy & Kendall! I love reading about how the Lord is using you in Zambia! Amazing how in just a few short months, Kendall has already preached in the native language. Praise Him for the new brothers & sisters!

Joy and Kendall, we just wanted to let you know we have been praying for this time. What an awesome response to all the prayers lifted on your behalf. We think it is great and an encouragement to us all that Kendall has done so well in language. Of course we know you probably wrote it for him, Joy. May God continue to pour out His blessings on your family and ministry.
