In Loving Memory of Danny

“By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35

June 3, we had just returned home from a meeting in Sinda with full but weary hearts, when we received the terrible news that one of Kendall’s good friends and the pastor of Kamphota Baptist Church had been killed. Daniel Sakala was a man that loved Jesus Christ. He was faithful in attendance at Bible Studies and was close to graduating from the Nyimba Bible School. Daniel was 34 years old and father to three children. This funeral was so hard for both Kendall and me because of the friendship that he and Kendall had and because of the amazing pastor he was. God had used Daniel to revive a dead church and to make it strong again and lead many people to salvation in Jesus Christ. We know without a doubt that Daniel is in Heaven with Jesus and rejoicing and praising his Savior, but the loss that is felt on earth is still so difficult. When we arrived at Daniel’s home before his burial, his mother went to Kendall and said, “we have lost a good pastor and a good man.”  Please pray for Daniel’s family in this terrible tragedy. Pray for the members of Kamphota to remain faithful and for God to raise up another leader. Pray that the people of his village would not hold anger and bitterness in their hearts towards the people that were involved in his death. Pray that the Gospel would go forward and more people would come to Christ because of Daniel’s life and witness for Jesus Christ.
