This afternoon, my phone rang and I was unsure of the number. I answered the phone and the person on the other end of the line told me her name and that she was in Nyimba and wanted to bring some things to our family. I said okay and we all awaited their surprise arrival. Amy and 6 youth from Lusaka got out of the car with a huge laundry basket full of goodies! We were overwhelmed. Then she said, "we have something else it's on top of the truck". I was thinking, "my goodness, the fruits and veggies are enough! Then they unload this big box full of presents for our children. Then she said, "oh yeah and one more thing!" It was a turkey! My heart was beating so fast, I was beginning to sweat and it took all that I had not to burst into tears. She said that they just wanted to bless our family this Christmas. Kendall and I were just talking the other day about how we miss vegetables and fruit. In the basket there was: broccoli, pears, oranges, grapes (which are very special), apples, butternut squash, cantelope (very rare around here), pineapple, green beans, carrots, and zucchini! There were oreos, a cake mix, frosting and a box of "Frosties" (Frosted Flakes). When they left, I stood in the kitchen with the kids and I just cried. I was overwhelmed. Who knew that a basket full of fruits, veggies, and other amazing gifts would overflow my heart in immense humility. I have never met Amy, but we have a mutual friend, Savannah and Kevin. Thank you so much to the precious people that serve with Amy...our cups are overflowing! My kids are already thinking of ways that we can say thank you to these precious angels!
