"For truly the words are not false; 'One who is perfect in knowledge is with you.' 'Behold, God is mighty but does not despise any; He is mighty in strength of understanding.'" Job 36:4-5
I have been silent on here for a while, but God has been teaching our family so much in that time. In that time, Kendall and I both have just really begin to discover more and more about the amazing power that our Lord has in all circumstances. I think like most people right now, Kendall and I have said to one another on several occasions, "WHAT in the world is going on??" It seems like in the past 4 months so many natural disasters have happened around the world that it seems very different than times before. Kendall keeps telling me, "Matthew 24". We as Christians have hope because Jesus IS coming back. It is hard not to look at the world in a broad perspective and not to think to yourself that Jesus' second coming is nearing. If you look at the natural disasters, war, political moves, world leaders, economy, and the decline in morality, one cannot deny the fact that things have changed.Yes, there are still amazing things going on in the world and people are coming to Christ, but so many things are happening around us so quickly that we must not hesitate in sharing the Gospel with our family, friends, and neighbors. When I think about sharing Christ with someone, I tell them, "I am sharing this with you because I care about you and love you so I want you to have the opportunity to experience the most amazing gift that can be shared on this earth and that is Jesus Christ." One day, when we all stand before Jesus, I don't want someone that I know to look back at me when we are before the Savior and think to themselves, "why didn't Joy share Jesus with me?" Recently, this has become more and more real to me in my life. I have been a Christian for 23 years and I think that it goes along with maturity and age, but I really want people to know Jesus. These events occurring around us and the Word of God all speak of Christ's return.
In my time with the Lord, I couldn't help but begin to research all of the natural disasters that have happened around the world in 2010. Here are just a few...
India- Cold Wave, Fiji- Cyclone, Caribbean- Drought, Montenegro- Floods, Solomon Islands- Earthquake
(For a complete list see this link) I was amazed, because many of them we don't hear about, but God is in control of all things. He is STILL on the Throne and He KNOWS all things. "I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does my help come from?
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD watches over you—
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
nor the moon by night.
The LORD will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
he will watch over your life;
the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore." Psalm 121
both now and forevermore." Psalm 121
Icelandic Volcano
Earthquake in Chile
Flooding in Nashville
Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico
Pray for all of the people that have lost loved ones in any and all of these natural disasters. Pray for our brothers and sisters around the world that they would be bold in their witness and sharing Christ with those around them.I pray that we as Christians would become bold and unafraid of the response of man but would become more passionate about sharing Christ with those around us. Just ask yourself, "what if someone had not shared Christ with me? Where would I be today?"
"'Am I a God who is near,' declares the Lord, 'And not a God far off?' 'Can a man hide himself in hiding places so I do not see him?' declares the Lord. 'Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?' declares the Lord." Jeremiah 23:23-24
